Sudden reduction

Input data

Flow

Diameter 1

Diameter 2

Output data

Head loss

Description

Performs head losses calculations in sudden reduction. There are two options:

Given the flow

Given the flow and the inlet and outlet diameters of the sudden reduction, calculates the corresponding head loss. $$ h_f = k. \frac{U^2}{2g} $$

Coefficient

Given the inflow pipe diameter, calculates the head loss coeficients corresponding to the expressions:

  1. k applicable to the expression: $$ h_f = k. \frac{U^2}{2g} $$

  2. kQ applicable to the expression: $$ h_f = k_Q. Q^2
