Decanter inlet channels

Description

Given the dimensions of various sections of an inlet channel for decanters and their distribution gates, this calculation determines the flow rates distributed to each gate and the head loss between the channel and the decanter.

To perform this calculation, the parameters θ\theta and ϕ\phi must be selected. The corresponding values are as follows:

  • Long connection (connection length significantly greater than three times its diameter):
    θ=0.4\theta = 0.4
    ϕ=0.90\phi = 0.90

  • Short connection (connection length less than three times its diameter; common case):
    θ=0.7\theta = 0.7
    ϕ=1.67\phi = 1.67
