Description

Given the average incoming flow and BOD, the average depth of the pond and the the climate and insolation type, suggests the average area that should be adopted, calculates the volumetric organic loading rate, the volume of the pond, the detention time and the resulting organic volumetric load.

Pond

GRADES

  • Recommendations for surface application rate:

OptionType of climate and insolationRate, kg BOD/ha.d
    1Hot winter and high insolation240 to 350
    2Winter and moderate insolation120 to 240
    3Cold winter and low insolation100 to 180
  • L/B Ratio: 2 \le L/B \le 5

  • The surface of an optional lake must be less than 15 ha.

  • Depth y: 1.20 m \le y \le 2.00 m; larger values are recommended.

  • Organic load application rate:

    \ge 100 g BOD/m³.d and \le 400 g BOD/m³.d

Higher loads are applicable to higher temperature conditions.
